Central concepts flush pathogens out

System failures cannot be corrected to a 100%

During torrential rainfalls it happens repeatedly that the sewage systems cannot transport the massive water quantities. Then, untreated sewage must be drained with raw excrements and pathogens in the environment. Also the sewage plants cannot treat these water quantities, therefore  Pathogens are flushed out into the environment .

It was common to build  “mixed-water storage basins” (mixed-water is a mixture of raw sewage and rain water) as an engineering  solution for this technical problem hoping to prevent an overflow of the brown floods. But even these water storage basins are not capable of retaining the enormous floods of heavy rain, as one hears frequently: Flood in Eastern Germany 2002, last Lake Constance high tide etc.

The drinking water supply in Germany is one of the best of the world. Thanks to our excellent technical infrastructure and the intensive water monitoring, our tap water is often of better quality than bottled mineral water. But the centralistic flow-through concept represents a real threat in most other countries, which do not posses such an infrastructure. Approx. 5 million people worldwide die - mostly children - of the so-called “water born diseases". These are mostly diarrhoea illnesses which are caused by faecal loaded drinking water.
