The "Central Flow-Through Concept"

State-of-the-art water management

Within the last one hundred years, a water management system has been developed, which isn't sustainable embedded in our natural water cycles. The central flow-through concept of water supply and wastewater disposal has the following stations:

  1. freshwater withdrawal (ground or surface water)
  2. drinking water processing
  3. usage
  4. sewage
  5. sewerage
  6. (sewage plant)
  7. disposal into rivers (upstream. downstream again 1. freshwater withdrawal)
  8. drained into the seas (loss of freshwater)

Actually, only 10% of the worlds wastewater is treated - therfore the sewage plant is put in brackets. This means, that downstream the people are drinking diluted raw sewage in many countries. Thus, the concept has an adverse effect on our water resources - both when water quantity and water quantity are concerned.

The answers to absent water: Transportation or desalination of sea water

Almost all water transport plans of the past (e.g. "Texas Water plan", "Siberian Rivers Plan", and, very current, the Ebro project in Spain etc.) failed due to public resistance and the enormous investment costs. Seawater desalination is widely spread and accepted, but with 1,5 to 3 ¤/m³ very expensive. Since the desertification affects increasingly many regions of the earth, desalination of seawater is often the only answer  - and drinking water becomes  more and more expensive.

Our answer: Used water is the closest water source.

Domestic sewage is polluted, but it is water, and can thus be considered a resource. We install water recycling plants in buildings. Of course nobody will like the idea that toilet wastewater comes from his taps. Therefore, sewage must be separately collected and drained into non-faecal and faecal contaminated partial streams. With our technique toilet wastewater is reused exclusively for toilet flushing (the "water free flushing toilet") and only the non-faecal contaminated partial stream is processed into tap-water. This leads to the physical elimination of sewage and to a far-reaching water autarky in buildings - almost independently of local water resources.
