The brown water cycle: Compost instead of pathogens

With the brown water cycle the flushing toilet is almost waterless

The flushing water cycle of urine separating toilets has no more water entry due to the separation of urine. Thus, evaporation losses cannot be replaced. However, one can replace them by grey water or by condensing the evaporation water which arises from the drying of the urine after the nutrient extraction.

Also here the toilet user do not notices any differences

Besides a soft suspension of the toilet seat, the user of a urine separating toilet (which is also based on one of our patents)  does not notice any difference to the present toilets. As in the case of the black water cycle the flush water is clear, colourless and odourless. One could drink this water  – but it is far less salty , since the nutrient salts of the urine are separated from the flushing water.
